Road Trip

Greetings from Shell Harbor. We're all here for a wedding, which I'm not actually attending but I've come along in the capacity of second driver and support person. It's been a looooong day. Initially it all starts off with great excitement but then the road wears you down. You take one too many wrong turns, you negotiate unfamiliar mountain roads with multiple hairpin bends and people are just antsy and grouchy.
However the hardest part for me is dealing with the public in unfamiliar territory. Today I witnessed my family being filmed on someone's camera phone. I confronted the woman and she denied it but I know she did. Somewhere we feature on someone's Facebook page. The thought of this bothers me to no end.
I'm just a regular someone, you know. My family is just regular, just smaller in stature. The only time we KNOW we're seen as different is when incidents like that happen. It hurts, you know. We're not here for your entertainment. I'm sure you'd hate it if people saw your precious family as a constant source of amusement and an oddity. I hate it more than you can imagine.
We got back in the car and put distance between us and them. I'm trying to tell myself that that ignorant woman doesn't matter...but she does. It matters that it hurts.
